Get Involved - Social Nets

Social Nets are the best way to get involved. You will hear many other operators on the air, you will get to know them and also hear about what other operators in the hobby are working on. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself and get practice on the radio.
This is also how we protect our frequencies. Each operator that “check-in’s” into a social net counts as a check-in even if they are able to stay for the whole net or not. These hours go up the chain throughout the ARRL reporting structure (ARES or Club) and are shared with Section Leadership and local, state and federal government officials. Even if you are busy or tied up, try to at minimum to check into the net as “in & out”. This means you checked in, but do not have time to participate or talk during your go around or have nothing to say.
